Forecast for 2026-04-16

River conditions forecasts posted on 2026-04-16 by Ottawa River Regulating Committee

Water levels and flows continue to rise at all locations along the main stem of the Ottawa River as significant runoff from rainfall and snowmelt from the unregulated portion of the basin flow into the river. Reservoirs are retaining spring runoff to reduce flooding in the downstream river system. Minor flood levels have been or will soon be exceeded in flood prone areas along the Ottawa River from Pembroke down to Carillon. Hydrological forecasts are highly uncertain at this time and exceedance of major flood levels from Lac Coulonge to Masson/Cumberland over the next few days cannot be excluded. The minor flood level is defined as the level at which parts of some streets, lawns and parks are beginning to flood, with no or few houses/buildings being affected. The major flood level is defined as the level at which one or several streets are beginning to flood, with several houses/buildings or neighbourhoods being affected. Please refer to the forecast section of our website for more information about the water levels in your area.
